IceStone durable surfaces are made from recycled glass and concrete. IceStoneฎ products are the ideal choice for green kitchen countertops. They're also a great option for backsplashes, bathrooms, vanities, bathroom dividers, tabletops, interior walls, and commercial flooring applications. Beautiful shower surrounds and bathtubs could be made with IceStone durable surface material. It can be shaped, cut water jet, inlaid, mounted vertically or horizontally. While there are 24 standard colors available, the color palette is infinite. We can make IceStone surfaces in almost any color because we can add pigment to the background mix, and then select from a variety of sizes and colors of glass. Customers love the consistency and flexibility of IceStone surface material as they can put it on a floor, wrap it up a wall and then place it on the countertop. IceStone durable surfaces are strong like granite, not as porous as marble and heat-resistant like stone. The chemical composition is benign and 99.5% inorganic making it a very safe material from the standpoint of toxicity and fire resistance. Third party testing results are available upon request. The fabrication, installation and maintenance of IceStone surfaces follow essentially the same process as used with natural stone. Due to its high recycled content and Cradle to Cradle Certification, IceStone materials can be used towards LEED points. FAQs What is the size of IceStone slabs? Icestone is 52ฝ" wide by 96" long and 1ผ thick, and weighs about 14 lbs per square foot. What tools are used to cut IceStone? IceStone surfaces are cut to specification using standard stone cutting equipment. We have issued manufacturing and installation requirements in a technical bulletin that covers the quality standards that must be adhered to when fabricating and/or installing IceStone. Does IceStone stain? As long as the top is sealed according to our guidelines, IceStone will not stain. Daily maintenance should include a mild, water based, low ph cleaser, to keep your tops clean. Anything else may strip the sealer over time and leave the application susceptible to stains. We recommend using water based, low-VOC sealers be applied according to the manufacturers guidelines, typically once per year. How much does IceStone cost? We produce 52ฝ" wide by 96" long and 1ผ thick slabs of 100% recycled glass and cement. Customers (fabricators and distributors) then purchase our slabs and configure them to meet a specification. The price of a job has many varying factors, including, but not limited to, size, location, scope, color, and edge detail. LEED & Product Data The United States Green Building Council developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System in order to transform the built environment to sustainability by providing the building industry with consistent, credible standards for what constitutes a green building. There are different types of LEED rating systems, and all are continuously refined. You can check the latest versions at the USGBC website . Using IceStone durable surfaces has helped many projects to obtain their LEED credits. Below, you will find information relating to how IceStone can help to obtain credits in the LEED Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) version 2.0 rating system. Below that, you will find a condensed listing of the other LEED certification systems and the corresponding credits that IceStone can help your project to obtain. LEED Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) Version 2.0 and IceStone MR 4: Recycled Content IceStone durable surfaces contain recycled content that ranges from 70% on average to 75% of the product by weight. Of the recycled content, generally 80-100% is pre-consumer waste, with the balance being post-consumer waste. MR 5: Regional Materials IceStone durable surfaces are manufactured in Brooklyn, NY. If your project is within 500 miles of us, IceStone qualifies as a regional material. EQ 4: Low-Emitting Materials IceStone durable surfaces contain no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and thus emit no VOCs. We recommend that IceStone be used in conjunction with certain low-VOC or no-VOC sealants. Innovation in Design: Cradle to Cradle Certification IceStone is the first and only durable surface to have achieved Cradle to Cradle certification. McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) an independent third-party firm has evaluated IceStone durable surfaces for its human health, environmental health, lifecycle attributes, social responsibility, renewable energy and water stewardship characteristics against stringent criteria and has certified it as a Silver level ecologically intelligent product.
