IceStone durable surfaces are terrazzo-like composites that are as beautiful as they are innovative. Extremely resilient and available in a wide array of colors. IceStone products look and perform like mined stone and are installed and maintained just like granite. Made from 100% recycled glass in a cement matrix, IceStone materials are a sustainable choice and replace non-renewable and petrochemical based materials. They are manufactured in a day-lit factory in the Brooklyn Navy Yard by a company that values socially responsible business practices.

Applications include kitchen countertops and backsplashes, bathroom vanities, tabletops, conference tables, fireplace surrounds, wall cladding, commercial flooring as well as exterior use. IceStone slabs can be easily cut, shaped, water jet, inlaid and mounted vertically or horizontally. Polishing brings out the luminescence of the glass, creating the effect for which IceStone products were named. Honing or sandblasting adds texture to a flooring installation and can further increase variations in shades and colors. IceStone durable surfaces can also be edged to suit individual tastes. In some instances we use pigments made from recycled iron to tint the matrix; by mixing and matching glass color and size and cement pigments, our color spectrum is infinite. Custom mixing is available for larger commercial orders. Our product is manufactured of glass is embedded in a cement matrix, which naturally hardens and continues to strengthen over time. Unlike resinous or petrochemical based products, IceStone surfaces do not fade with exposure to UV rays.

The fabrication, installation and maintenance of IceStone slabs follow the same protocol used with mined stone, such as marble. IceStone products are slightly porous, just like natural stone. They become stain resistant after sealing with our recommended sealers and using our recommended two-step sealing process. We strongly recommend that the Ice Stone fabricator use both a penetrating sealer and a topical sealer to maximize stain resistance. IceStone durable surfaces are strong and require only occasional maintenance to preserve their beauty and performance. You should reapply sealant once a year, just as you would with natural stone, using the procedure specified by the sealant manufacturer’s instructions. Both water-based and low-VOC sealers are available for use with IceStone slabs.

IceStone precast slabs are manufactured to the standard dimensions of 521⁄2" wide by 96" long, 1 1⁄4” thick only, and weigh about 14 lbs per square foot.

IceStone is extremely durable, up to 13,000 psi, IceStone surfaces are stronger than marble.

IceStone surfaces are fabricated using standard stone cutting equipment by authorized IceStone fabricators.

IceStone is heat resistant but if you put a hot pot directly onto IceStone surfaces, you will compromise the sealer.

The cost of IceStone is dependent on the color selection, size and sheet quantity. Please contact The Environmental Home Store to obtain detailed pricing information and IceStone fabricators.
