Finnish Soapstone has been around for over two billion years. The restless movement of the continental plates pushed up a magnificent Karelian
mountain range. Hidden in its depths, in the relentless pressure and heat of Nature’s forge, tens of millions of years saw the birth of the
Karelian magic stone – soapstone.
It stores massive amounts of heat, and then radiates it slowly and steadily. New Englanders have long appreciated these qualities. Pancakes
cooked on soapstone griddles and smothered with maple syrup have been a tradition here since the Nineteenth Century. The unique character of
soapstone to absorb heat and slowly radiate it for hours makes it a favorite material for boot warmers, bedwarmers for cold winter nights.
It’s radient heat properties make it an excellent choice for cooking dishes.
All of our soapstone products are manufactured in East Finnland.
Finnish Soapstone is impervious to weather, heat, and time. It is Not affected by acids or alkalies. It will not discolor because stains can not
penetrate the surface and are therefore easily removed. No germs or bacteria an be absorbed by the stone.
