AMERICAN CLAY EARTH PLASTER

LOMA™:
Our original plaster, Loma provides a surprising range of textures for
interior walls. While always serving as a basecoat for all three of our Premier Plasters, LOMA™ as a final finish
brings a finely honed polish to any wall surface. With a slight change in technique, LOMA produces sophisticated depth
reminiscent of suede, whisper- subtle matte elegance or rustic organic surfaces with true tactile appeal. LOMA is the
easiest of our three Premier Plasters to apply either with a trowel or spray on application.
American Clay Loma is our original formulation. Like all of our plasters, it softens up boxy rooms and adds a warm depth
to your walls. Loma can be used to create a wonderful range of finished surfaces-- from finely polished walls with beautiful
depth and visual texture, to matte finishes, to more rustic, textured walls. Colors range from architectural gray to ocean
blues to earthy reds and golds, blending with any style home. It is made from a variety of clays, aggregate, mineral pigments
and a non-toxic mold inhibitor.
Loma is always used as the base (first) coat for all of our plasters, and may also be used as the final (second) coat. Loma
is the easiest plaster for do-it-yourself enthusiasts who have little or no plastering experience.
Available in 50 lb. bucket or bags.
Coverage:
80 to 120 square feet in two coats per 50 lb. bucket or bag, depending on the substrate
PORCELINA™:
Our smoothest plaster provides the artisan with an opportunity to create traditional opulent Old World marble smooth surfaces.
Capturing the architectural wonder and durability of Venetian lime plasters, PORCELINA™ lends a silky polished sheen to once
bland wall surfaces without the laborious and hazardous sanding required of acrylic/lime and gypsum finishes. It’s decidedly
epic—whether applied with a sleek hard- troweled finish, burnished for greater depth or layered, blended with color and waxed
---PORCELINA is the answer for elegant Italianesque or Contemporary walls. PORCELINA can be hand-troweled or sprayed on.
Delightfully soft and smooth to the touch, American Clay Porcelina is used to create the polished, marble-smooth wall surfaces
that have been prized by artisans for centuries. When trowel marks are left in the base or finish coat and then burnished, Porcelina
creates walls with dramatic depth and movement -- visual texture to compliment the plaster's silky feel. When several layers of color
are interwoven and then waxed or soaped, this plaster will recreate the stunning look of the venetian plasters of Mediterranean and
Italian villas. Porcelina is made of the same ingredients as Loma, with a finer aggregate, and is available in the same colors.
No sanding is require to achieve the "honed marble" smoothness--simply burnish Porcelina with a plastic trowel. Apply Porcelina
over a base coat of American Clay Loma. Prior plastering experience is recommended for Porcelina, and American Clay classes are
recommended for learning special effects like Venetian effect described above. Because this plaster goes on thinner, it costs
about the same per square foot as our Loma.
Coverage:
300-350 square feet per 50 lb. bucket or bag in one coat over a base coat of
American Clay Loma.
MARITTIMO™:
The strongest of our three plasters, MARITTIMO™ draws its’ beauty and charm
from the Mediterranean villages of Morocco and from the playfulness and color of the Caribbean islands. Crushed shell aggregate
gives it strength. In addition it is the shell that provides the speckle that adds depth and subtle sheen to any interior
environment. Somewhat reminiscent of the ancient shell terrazzo floors of Italy and Egypt, MARITTIMO brings a soft patina
that envelops a room with exquisite beauty. When reworked with a Lexan trowel, MARITTIMO imparts a glow unequaled in the world
of plaster. MARITTIMO can also be sprayed on as well as hand-troweled.
Inspired by Mediterranean and Carribean finishes, Marittimo brings the ocean's tranquility into your home. Sea shell aggregate
gives a magnificent subtle speckle to Maritimo, adding depth to your walls. This plaster feels like it has been polished with
warm beeswax and is wonderful to touch. The same pigments used in Loma and Porcelina will appear a shade darker or grayer in
Marittimo.
Marittimo goes over a base coat of Loma, and is as easy to apply as Loma. It is our most durable plaster, and costs a bit
more per square foot than Loma and Porcelina. Made of a variety of clays, crushed sea shells, natural mineral pigments and
a non-toxic mold inhibitor.
Available in 50 lb. bucket or bags
Coverage:
160 square feet per 50 lb. bucket or bag in one coat over a base coat of
American clay Loma
American Clay Color Packs
Each 50 lb. bucket or bag of American Clay Earth Plaster comes with a color pack in one of 42 colors of your choice (see
Destination Colors and Natural Depths). The Price of the Color Pack is separate from the price of the Plaster. Mixing
according to the instructions produces even coloration through out the entire plaster coat. The natural oxides and ochres
used in our color line are resistant to the fading caused by UV light, allowing color matching for many years to come.
SANDED PRIMER ELITE™
A ZERO VOC primer with added aggregate serves as a prime coat for the ‘Traditional’ plaster system for our Plasters, as well
as protecting outside corners for our ‘DOS MANOS’ classic and professional application system.
PENETRATING SEALER AND GLOSS SEALER:
A low voc soy resin/acrylic spray on sealer which
provides some increased hardness and sheen to the products. Our sealers also provide additional hardness to the final surface
when MUD GLUE is not used. Penetrating Sealer is always used before the Gloss Sealer, which brings a high sheen to the plaster
surface.
Used as a low-sheen sealer for American Clay Earth Plasters or as a pre-seal for American Clay Gloss Sealer, our penetrating sealer
is a low-VOC (25g/litre) product that increases the durability and water resistance of the final plaster. A single coat imparts a
low-sheen to our plasters. Two to three coats produce a hard, semi-gloss finish that makes the surface easier to clean and more
water-resistant. You can use it on surfaces subject to occasional moisture, such as walls behind sinks and around bathtubs, but
not on walls in constant contact with direct water sprays. A slight change in color may occur with American Clay Penetrating Sealer.
We recommend testing a small area on your wall to see the color change.
Available in 1- and 5-gallon containers.
Coverage:
First coat—150 to 200 square feet per gallon, depending on the surface texture
and porosity Subsequent coats—250 to 350 square feet per gallon.
American Clay Gloss Sealer
Like our clear sealer, our gloss sealer is a very low VOC product. Its high sheen makes walls easier to clean—excellent
for high-traffic areas, such as hallways, entries, stairwells, and children’s rooms. It also provides additional water-resistance
to walls behind sinks and around bathtubs but should not be used on walls in constant contact with direct water sprays. Our Gloss
Sealer must be applied over a coat of our Penetrating Sealer to minimize color changes. A change in color will occur with American
Clay Gloss Sealer. We recommend testing a small area on your wall to see the color change.
Available in 1- and 5-gallon containers.
Coverage:
250 to 350 square feet per gallon, over a coat of American Clay Penetrating Sealer.
Trowels
We also sell a wide variety of Japanese and specialized clear plastic trowels. Available in several sizes, these trowels have proven
to be excellent tools for both the tradesman and the homeowner.
